Our mission is to train excellent, dedicated family medicine physicians while providing high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to individuals and families in our community. Attention is given to an inquisitive, scientific, academic atmosphere.

We allow you to develop and sharpen the skills needed to practice primary, long-term, comprehensive, compassionate family-centered care in both ambulatory and hospital-based settings.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum and educational excellence while integrating the biopsychosocial model of medicine into each segment of the curriculum. Community service is an integral part of our program and a meaningful part of our mission. Our graduates become competent and compassionate family physicians.

Goals and Objectives:

During and upon completion of the program, residents will:
  1. Provide competent, compassionate care within the full scope of Family Medicine, and be recommended for certification by the American Board of Family Medicine.
  2. Provide continuing care for the entire family.
  3. Appropriately diagnose and manage common ambulatory medical problems.
  4. Appropriately evaluate and manage patients requiring hospitalization, and coordinate the care of those patients across multiple healthcare disciplines and specialties.
  5. Become skilled in information mastery, evidence-based medicine, and use of new technology for patient care and education.
  6. Recognize and manage socioeconomic and psychosocial factors that impact patient health.
  7. Become capable of providing cost effective care in a variety of healthcare settings.
  8. Develop skills in efficient and effective management of a medical practice.
  9. Actively participate in quality improvement activities and be able to apply these skills to future practice settings.
  10. Become competent in the performance of core office and hospital procedures.
  11. Build communication and interpersonal skills which enhance patient care.
  12. Demonstrate high standards of professionalism.
  13. Develop skills to foster life-long learning.
  14. Develop skills which help ensure balance in personal and professional lives.
