Minimum Requirements for Interview Consideration

The application deadline for each year is January 31.  We request that you submit your completed application form along with the following items through ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service at www.aamc.org/eras or the Universal Osteopathic Application at do-online.osteotech.org for participation in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) or NMS, National Matching Services, Inc. International medical school graduates:  please contact your medical school dean’s office or ECFMG at www.ecfmg.org for information regarding the ERAS application process.

Submission Requirements:

  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Your current CV
  • Medical school transcripts
  • USMLE Step I and II transcripts or equivalent COMLEX scores
  • Dean's letter
  • Board scores
  • ECFMG Certificate if obtained (International medical school graduates)
  • Photo is optional

    Requirements for Interview

    • Medical school graduation within the past 2 years preferred.
    • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.  Various visas are accepted/considered. Please contact Recruitment Coordinator for further details.
    • Passing scores on USMLE Part I and II or equivalent COMLEX scores (not necessarily the criteria to be interviewed, but must have passed Step I USMLE at time of interview). Applications with no more than 4 (four) attempts total to pass Step 1 and Step 2CK exams will be considered.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATES:  In addition to the above requirements, you must have:
    • U.S. Clinical experience such as medical school rotations or prior residency training or other acceptable clinical experience such as training in Canada, Great Britian, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany.  (OBSERVERSHIPS; EXTERNSHIPS AND RESEARCH ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE AS PRIOR EXPERIENCE).
    • ECFMG Certificate
    • Must Meet the eligibility requirements for Step 2 CK and Step CS for valid standard ECFMG certification

    Interview and Appointment Process

    If your application meets the Racine Family Medicine Residency requirements, then you will be considered for an interview.  Selected candidates will be notified by email or phone call with an offer for an interview. 

    The residency will pay for your lodging expense.  Your spouse or significant other is encouraged to accompany you.  Candidates will tour Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare All Saints hospital campus and the Family Medicine Center, meet with the Program Director, selected Faculty and Residents. You will then have the opportunity for a fun and relaxing lunch or dinner with several residents. All appointment offers to join the program are made by our Program Director in accordance with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and/or National Matching Services, Inc. (NMS) guidelines.

    PASSPORT PROGRAM:
    Fourth-year medical students can apply for reimbursement for travel expenses incurred while visiting Wisconsin Family Medicine Residencies.  The more programs visited, the greater the amount of reimbursement available, up to $1,000.  Students must apply for the Wisconsin Passport Program by completing an application form.  Reimbursement is available on a first come, first serve basis.  Students must submit receipts and a reimbursement request form after visiting the residency programs.  Funds are limited, so apply early.  For more information, please visit http://www.wafp.org.
